What does delisting of a stock mean?

The term delisting of securities means removal of securities of a listed company from a stock exchange. As a consequence of delisting, the securities of that company would no longer be traded at that stock exchange.

There are two types of delisting:

  • Forced delisting typically happens due to non-compliance with SEBI listing requirements or other legal issues.
  • Voluntarily delisting refers to companies voluntarily delisting themselves from the exchange because of corporate restructuring.
