    Established in 1977 by Dr. A. J. Prasad and partners, HBL Power Systems is headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana. Its registered office is at Banjara Hills. The company is publicly listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE: 517271) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE: HBLPOWER). HBL specialises in designing and manufacturing industrial batteries (lead-acid, Ni–Cd, silver-zinc, lithium) and power electronics—serving defense, railways, telecom, renewable energy, and industrial sectors.

    HBL operates across three verticals:

    • Batteries: Produces lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, silver-zinc, lithium, and specialised submarine and torpedo batteries.
    • Electronics: Includes railway electronics (collision avoidance systems, signalling), industrial power systems (UPS, battery monitoring, DC panels), and e‑mobility products (motors, inverters, EV chargers).
    • Ammunition/Solar & Concrete: Offers spun concrete poles, telecom towers, and solar controllers.

    Revenue streams include B2B/B2G sales, backed by defence and railway contracts (approx. 20% revenue from defence), telecom battery supplies (~35%), industrial solutions, and growing renewable energy offerings (~15%).

    • 1977: Hyderabad Batteries Ltd founded for battery manufacturing
    • 1986: HBL Power Systems was incorporated; commenced operations producing nickel-cadmium batteries a month after incorporation
    • Early 1990s: Launched UPS manufacturing (10 kVA+)
    • 1999–2000: Merged Hyderabad Batteries and SAB Nife Power Systems; expanded operations
