Passport enquiry details

Have you recently applied for a passport? Then it is likely that you may need some clarifications about the application process. You may also have some other associated concerns. Maybe you are unable to get in touch with the relevant passport authority to address your questions.

Do not worry. The following guidelines cover a range of topics related to passport enquiry:

  • To resolve any passport queries:
    • Your first point of contact should be the Passport Call Centre.
    • Do you prefer a face-to-face interaction? Then, you can visit your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
    • You can even log into the Government of India’s Passport Seva website. There you will find online services to deal with your passport queries.

  • To find your nearest PSK:
    • You can contact the Passport Call Centre.
    • You can also locate it on the Passport Seva website.

  • To track your passport application status:
    • Contact the Passport Call Centre. Give your date of birth (DOB) and file number to the representative who attends your call.
    • You can also get the passport application status enquiry online. For this, you will first have to log into the Passport Seva website. Then, enter your file number via the Interactive Voice Recorder (IVR) system.
  • To report a complaint:
    • You can call the Passport Call Centre.
    • You can visit a PSK.
    • You can register your complaint online on the Passport Seva website.

  • To report a lost passport:
    • You must inform the nearest police station and passport office. (Note: The Passport Call Centre cannot help you in this matter).
    • If it happens while you are travelling abroad, you must report the loss to the local Indian mission.
