How to Link Aadhaar Number with LIC Policy Online and Offline

It has not been made mandatory to link Aadhaar with any insurance policies yet, but most companies insist that it be done. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) is one of the biggest insurance providers in the country, offering a wide variety of insurance products.

If you have an LIC policy and wish to link your Aadhar to the policy, here’s a step-by-step guide to do it online and offline.
Note: Before you begin the process, keep your LIC policy numbers handy. Make sure that your current mobile number is registered with Aadhaar. If it isn’t, update it as the OTP will be sent to the number registered.

Step-by-step guide on how to link your Aadhaar with LIC Policy Online

This method will be useful for those who don’t have a PAN card.

  1. Step 1:   Open the LIC policy home page - https://www.licindia.in/Home.aspx
  2. Step 2:   Click on the ‘Link Aadhaar and PAN to LIC policies’ option (you could also go directly to this page:
  3. Step 3:   Go through all the information carefully and click on ‘Proceed’
  4. Step 4:   Fill in your Aadhaar and PAN numbers, along with your email and mobile number in the form that appears
  5. Step 5:   Enter your policy details, and click Add Policy
  6. Step 6:   Read the disclaimer carefully and then tick it
  7. Step 7:   Enter the code that is displayed in the box below
  8. Step 8.   Click on ‘Get OTP’
  9. Step 9:   The OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar
  10. Step 10: Enter the OTP in the space provided and click on ‘Submit’
  11. Step 11: This data will be sent to the UIDAI for verification after you have completed the process
  12. Step 12: You will receive an SMS or email or both after your Aadhar has been linked to your policies. This may take a few days.

Step-by-step guide on how link your Aadhaar with LIC policy Offline

This method will be useful for those who don’t have a PAN card.

  1. Step 1:   Download the Aadhaar/PAN form from the LIC website -
                  The form is also easily available at all LIC offices
  2. Step 2:   Step into your nearest LIC office, armed with a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar, as well as the original, for verification
  3. Step 3:   Fill in the form and hand it over to the assistant
  4. Step 4:   A verification will be conducted by the UIDAI, after which your Aadhaar will be linked with your LIC policy
  5. Step 5:   Once your Aadhaar has been linked with your LIC Policy, you will receive a confirmation message regarding the same, on your
                   registered mobile number. This should ideally take around a week.
