Different forms of RTO in India

If you want to register a new vehicle or get a driving license, you must pay a visit to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and submit your application in a prescribed form. You can download the forms online from the website of your state’s RTO or on the Sarathi Privahan (https://parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice16/stateSelection.do) website, which is run by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. If you want to do it offline, you could get the forms at your nearest RTO.

Each applicant needs to fill a specific form for availing of any RTO service. This will make sure you provide the right kind of information at the right time to the concerned authorities. These forms come in two categories, namely Driving License and Vehicle Registration.

Category 1- Driving Licence RTO Form List

The state RTOs issue the Driving License. In fact, it is a punishable offence to drive on the Indian roads without a Driving License. To get a driving license or a related service, you must apply using a specific form. The following are the forms required for the different driving license processes:

Driving Licence Form 1:

It is the physical fitness declaration form. You have to fill this form to clarify you are not suffering from any disability or disease that might obstruct your driving skills

Driving Licence Form 1A: 

It is a medical certificate that should be issued by your medical practitioner. This form includes the results of a thorough examination conducted by any state-appointed and state certified doctor.

Driving Licence Form 2: 

Before acquiring the Driving License, you must have had Learner’s License at least for 30 days. This is the form to apply for a Learner’s License. You have to specify the type of vehicle you want the license for. Other information to be filled include disclosure of ownership of any previous licenses, disqualifications, personal details such as name, email ID, mobile number, address, etc.

Driving Licence Form 4: 

This is the main application form, your ticket to earn a valid license. You must use it to apply for any kind of license – two-wheeler without gear, two-wheeler with gear, car, transport vehicle, auto rickshaw etc

Driving Licence Form 8: 

If you want to add another type of vehicle to your existing license, then this is the form to opt for. For example, you may have a license to drive a two-wheeler without gear but you now need a license for a four-wheeler.

Driving Licence Form 9:

Your license comes with an expiry date. It is either 20 years or until you turn 50 years of age. It is advisable to renew your car one year prior to expiry. You have up to one year after expiry to renew it.

Category 2- Vehicle Registration RTO Form List India

When you buy a new vehicle, you must register it within one month before you can legally drive it on Indian roads. You also need to register your vehicle if you are moving from one state to another. Different registration processes require different forms. Here are some of them you will require to register your vehicle:

Vehicle Registration RTO

It is the primary application form. Details of the motor vehicle such as the type of body, the kind of vehicle, number of cylinders on the motor vehicle, seating capacity, fuel used in the engine, etc. should be included carefully

Vehicle Registration RTO

If you lose or misplace your registration certificate, you can always acquire a duplicate copy of the same

Vehicle Registration RTO

This is the form you must use to apply for new registration for an already registered vehicle. It is called the Application for Assignment of New Registration Mark’. You need to fill this if you are moving from one state to another. The documents you need to enclose with this form are the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the chief RTO authoritycertificate of registration, and a certificate of fitness of the automobile

Vehicle Registration RTO

This form is a No Objection Certificate that you need to get from the former RTO to get a registration certificate. This is against used when you move from one state to another. You are required to collect the NOC from the RTO where your vehicle was registered.

Vehicle Registration RTO

In case, you, as the owner of the motor vehicle want to give the ownership to another person, you will have to submit this form to your native RTO

Vehicle Registration RTO

You have to fill this form if the owner is deceased and the applicant or a member of the family is willing to take over the ownership of the vehicle
