LG Electronics India’s stock market debut turned into one of the biggest success stories of the year 2025.
The company’s IPO was oversubscribed 54 times, showing strong investor interest in this IPO.
When it was listed on the stock exchange, the stock price jumped 53.4% on the first day.
The company was valued at about $13 billion (₹1.16 lakh crore), which was even higher than its South Korean parent, LG Electronics Inc., which is worth around $9 billion.
The excitement came from a mix of factors.
Demand for consumer electronics in India has been rising steadily.
The government’s tax cuts on items like TVs and refrigerators made a big difference.
Supportive monetary policies by the RBI also improved market liquidity.
All these helped LG India deliver one of the largest consumer electronics listings in Indian history.
LG India is not just a popular brand, but it is also a large-scale manufacturer.
The company has two modern plants in Noida and Pune, and a third plant is under construction, expected to be ready by FY 2027.
Together, they can produce up to 1.45 crore products every year.
The company’s presence across India is equally strong. It operates through 35,640 retail touchpoints, 463 trade partners, and a wide after-sales network supported by hundreds of service staff.
This reach gives LG a big advantage in a highly competitive market.
Most of LG India’s revenue comes from its Home Appliances and Air Solutions division, which includes refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and purifiers.
This segment contributes about 74.97% of the company’s total revenue.
Within this, refrigerators account for 27.48%, washing machines 20.69%, and air conditioners 21.63%. The remaining share of 5.17% comes from other appliances such as dishwashers and compressors.
The second major segment is Home Entertainment, which includes televisions, monitors, and display systems.
It contributes 25.03% to the total revenue, with televisions alone making up 20.21% and other products adding 4.82%.
The company holds dominant positions in several categories in India’s offline market.
It leads with a 33.5% share in washing machines, 29.9% in refrigerators, 27.6% in panel TVs, 20.6% in inverter air conditioners, 51.4% in convection microwaves, and 40.5% in stainless steel tank water purifiers.
These figures highlight how strongly LG has embedded itself in Indian households and how wide its product leadership truly is.
LG Electronics India’s successful market debut is a reflection of India’s changing consumer economy.
The company’s financial performance has been consistently strong.
Net sales rose to ₹24,367 crore in FY25 from ₹21,352 crore in FY24. Profit after tax increased to ₹2,203 crore from ₹1,511 crore a year earlier.
Compared to its peers, LG maintains a leading position.
Havells India, Voltas, Blue Star, and Whirlpool all reported healthy growth, but LG’s scale, brand trust, and product diversity keep it ahead of the pack.
It has managed to stay competitive while expanding its presence across categories and maintaining profitability.
The future looks promising.
India’s consumer electronics market, worth $89.5 billion in 2025, is projected to almost double to $158.4 billion by 2034, growing at a steady 6.56% CAGR between 2026 and 2034.
The total number of products sold could increase from 495 million units in 2024 to around 660 million by 2029.
Rising incomes, expanding urbanisation, and higher demand in rural and semi-urban areas will continue to push this growth.
The focus on locally manufactured, energy-efficient, and premium products is also likely to shape the next phase of the industry.
For LG, this listing marks not just a milestone but the beginning of a new phase of expansion and opportunity in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
