What are the Documents Required for PAN Card?

When you apply for a new PAN card or to correct an existing PAN card, you must submit a set of documents as proof of identity and proof of address. Whether you are an Indian citizen (Form 49A) or a foreign national applying for an Indian pan (form 49AA), you must submit the following documents.

What are the Documents Required for PAN Card for Indian Citizens?

As a citizen of India you are required to furnish the below mentioned PAN card documents:

1.   Address Proof Copy

  1. a. Voters ID
  2. b. Aadhaar Card
  3. c. Passport
  4. d. Bank Account Statements
  5. e. Credit Card Statements
  6. f. Passbook of Post Office account
  7. g. Electricity Bill
  8. h. Landline Bill
  9. i. Broadband Bill

2.   Identity Proof Copy

  1. a. Passport
  2. b. Aadhaar Card
  3. c. Voters ID
  4. d. Ration Card
  5. e. Driving License
  6. f. Arm’s License
  7. g. Photo ID card issued by state/central government
  8. h. Attested certificate by bank contacting your photo and account number

3.   "3. An original of a certificate of identity signed by a Member of the Legislative Assembly, Member of Parliament, Municipal Councilor or Gazetted Officer is required.
A bank statement with your name, and stamp of the issuing officer and attested photograph along with your bank account, on the letterhead of the bank, is required for PAN card.

What are the Documents Required for PAN Card for Non-Resident Indians?

1.   Address Proof Copy

  1. a. Passport
  2. b. Visa granted by your country
  3. c. PIO card allotted by Government of India
  4. d. OCI card assigned by Government of India
  5. e. Bank account statements from the country in which you currently reside
  6. f. Non-resident external bank account statements in India

2.   Identity Proof Copy

  1. a. Passport
  2. b. Citizenship ID/Taxpayer ID attested by Apostille or by the Indian Embassy or High Commissioner or Consulate functioning in your home country
  3. c. OCI card allotted by the Government of India
  4. d. PIO card granted by the Government of India

In the case of minor applicants, the parents’ or guardians’ identity proof will be used as the proof of identity and address of the applicant.

In the case of HUFs (Hindu Undivided Family), an affidavit by the karta of the HUF, that states the name, father’s name and address of all inheritors on the application date will work as identity proof.
