What are sovereign gold bonds, and how can I apply for them?

SGBs (Sovereign Gold Bonds) are issued by the Reserve Bank of India on behalf of the government of India. SGBs are government securities whose denomination is in grams of gold. SGBs are a substitute for holding physical gold. Investors pay the issue price in cash and the bonds are redeemed in cash upon maturity.

To apply, follow the below steps for the respective platforms:

Choose a platform

Step 1: Log in to the Neo App

Step 2: Click on ‘invest’

Step 3: Click on ‘IPO’

You will be guided to a screen page where all the issues which are live in the primary market (E.g. IPOs, NCDs, Bonds, Sovereign Gold Bonds) will be displayed.

Step 4: Select buy against the current SGBs

Step 5: Click on ‘bonds’ under current SGBs. You’ll find all current open issues

Step 6: Select the SGB of your choice

Step 7: Enter the order details to place the order

Step 1: Log in to the Kotak Stock Trading App

Step 2: Add funds in the MF/Bonds ledger as per the SGB application

Step 3: Click on ‘bonds’ under the current SGBs. All open issues will be displayed

Step 4: Select the SGB of your choice

Step 5: Enter the order details to place the order

Step 3: Click on ‘bonds’ under the current SGBs. All open issues will be displayed
