What are the categories of Investors who can apply for an IPO?

All investors belonging to these 4 categories can apply for an IPO:

  1. Retails with an application amount below two lakhs
  2. HNIs with an application amount above two lakhs
  3. Qualified Institutional bidders (QIB), including financial institutions like banks, FII, and MF (Mutual Funds) that are registered with SEBI
  4. Anchor Investors who are invited to subscribe to the shares before the IPO opens.

In addition, the individual category can be further subdivided into employee, shareholder, and policyholder categories. Please note that this applies to the individual IPO issue and the Red Herring Prospectus approved by SEBI.
