What are some common errors during account opening and what do they mean?

Some common error that can occur during account opening are mentioned below

Personal Details Errors

  • “Account already exists with mentioned Mobile No. / Email ID” - Your mobile number or email ID is already linked to an existing Kotak Securities account.
    Note: Each mobile number and email ID can be used only once for account opening.

  • “SEBI Defaulter” - The PAN you entered is listed in SEBI’s defaulter list. Account opening is not allowed as per regulatory restrictions.

  • “Invalid PAN Number” - The entered PAN is either incorrect or not in a valid format.
    Tip: Please check for typos or refer to your official PAN document.

🏦 Bank Verification Errors

Double-check your account number and CRN before submitting. Contact your bank if unsure.

📝 E-Sign / Aadhaar Errors

• “Failed to E-Sign: Aadhaar locked by holder” Your Aadhaar number is currently locked by UIDAI. To unlock:

  1. You’ll need the latest VID (Virtual ID)
  2. If forgotten, retrieve it via UIDAI’s SMS services or official site
