Once you do so, you will get an acknowledgement slip. This slip has your update request number (URN), through which you can check the status of your request.

  • Download the new Aadhaar app on your smartphone. Android users can download the app from the Google Play Store, and iOS users can download it from the Apple App Store.
  • Select the ‘Mobile Number Update’ option.
  • Fill out your new/updated mobile number.
  • You will receive an OTP on your updated number.
  • Request for face authentication for identity verification.
  • Once the verification process is complete, Aadhaar records will have your updated number.

If you want to book an online appointment at an Aadhaar enrolment centre to update your mobile number, follow these steps:

  • Visit the UIDAI website.
  • Go to 'My Aadhaar' and choose the 'Book an Appointment' option. You will get it under the 'Get Aadhaar' section.
  • Select your city and click on 'Proceed to Book Appointment'.
  • Enter your mobile number, captcha, and click on 'Get OTP'.
  • Enter and verify the OTP received.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number and name, then tick the mobile number option. Then, enter your new mobile number and verify.
  • Enter appointment details to proceed. You will also receive an acknowledgement slip with your appointment details.
  • Visit the Aadhaar enrolment centre at your scheduled appointment date and time.
  • Complete biometrics verification to complete the process.

Aadhaar Mobile Update Charges, Timeline & Validity

Updating your mobile number in your Aadhaar card entails certain charges. In other words, you need to pay a fee to update your mobile number. Earlier, updating a mobile number cost ₹50; now, it costs ₹75. The new fee structure came into effect on 1st October 2025. It will remain the same until 30th September 2028. Charges will again be reviewed in October 2028.

Once you submit the request for mobile number update, it typically takes 2 to 4 weeks for your updated number to reflect in the Aadhaar database. As an Aadhaar card does not have any expiry date, the mobile number update is valid for your lifetime. This is unless you decide to update it again. As of now, there is no limit on the number of times you can update your mobile number.
