Bharti Airtel to file prospectus for IPO of tower unit


In what could be India’s biggest IPO since 2010, Indian telecom major, Bharti Airtel is looking to raise Rs 5000 crore via an IPO of shares in its tower unit Bharti Infratel Ltd.

Touted to be one of the largest share flotations in the last two years, Bharti Infratel is likely to file the prospectus on the share offering by next week.

Bharti Infratel owns 42 per cent stake in Indus Towers, the world's largest tower company. The proposed IPO will put out of 142 million shares of Bharti Infratel and would also include a secondary sale of 46 million shares by four private equity firms.

UBS AG, Bank of America Corp., Kotak Mahindra Capital Co.and Barclays are the lead advisors for the planned IPO.
